To ensure that the limited resource of fresh fish has consumer recognition as a high value protein and vital oil food the membership of  EAFPA subscribe to quality assurance concepts. 

EAFPA promotes care of the catch from the point that it enters the net throughout the chain of supply. The benefits are high quality products achieving corresponding price enhancement.  

It is inevitable and correct that fishing ports, auctions, sorting & distribution centres undertake a key role in this important area. 

This role has been recognised by the Commission and EAFPA has been granted a seat on the influential advisory committee on quality & hygiene. 

The Association has debated and established a defined position on traceability. This was presented to and noted by WG3 and has subsequently been published at a press conference.
