The association represents the interests of its members in European affairs and is now embarked on a progressive programme to develop valuable services. these shall be in accordance with the principles set out in the political platform.

The role and function of the fish auction is pivotal in ensuring a fair and open prices for fish within a secure and properly regulated hygienic environment.

Traceability can only be achieved through the active participation of the auctions and the association is positioning itself to enable this in a cost effective and cohesive manner. Indeed auctions can play a primary role by extending such systems to embrace all fish and be recognised as the points of entry for fish into the European food chain.

In serving the fishermen auctions provide a wide range of essential  services. This is often not recognised and the database that is being assembled will highlight these to the industry and authorities. Such a schedule will also provide fishermen with a comprehensive reference. Augmenting it will be access to weather and  tide plus European fuel costs.
